Got sucker-punched by the truth Never really needed proof Guess I only knew one way Never really thought you'd stay But that's just the way it goes Everybody knows Everybody Everybody knows  Man, we had our day Before we lost our way I wish for you the best You probably wouldn't guess So thanks for the highs and lows That everybody knows Everybody Everybody knows (Bridge) I may have crossed a line Like a holy man Who got lost in the wine But I hope I don’t find That all my past Was only in my mind So now you're on your own Living far from home Strong and gently Sailing away from me But somehow my love still shows And everybody knows Everybody Everybody knows Everybody knows ©2017 Philip Marino

Hand Grenade 02:48
Will you last through the fight? Will you fly to the light? There’s a difference between The match and the gasoline Will you hold on to what’s right? You pulled the pin Never at home in your skin You pulled the pin Now you’re just running from your sins I thought I could have it all That it was my call But then I had to learn It just wasn’t my turn Wish I woke up before the fall But I pulled the pin Was never at home in my skin I pulled the pin Now I'm just running from my sins (Bridge) When all you know gets blown apart It’s just so easy to share those scars But I know you can still find your way in the dark  Will we last through the night? Will we fight on for what’s right? Well, we pulled the pin Just waiting for the end to begin We pulled the pin All excuses are thin We pulled the pin Never at home in our skin We pulled the pin Now we're just running from our sins I'm still running from my sins ©2017 Philip Marino

If you knew the time Life would fall apart Would you handle it Or not even start If you tried your best But came up short Would you try again Or just cut the cord Hold on now my friend Days like these are not the end You’ll come around again Did you have a dream That you let go Was it all your choice Or did they tell you so Just recall a time When you stood tall And held your ground Like leaves in the fall It's no wonder, my friend Days like these will do you in But I know you’ll be back again (Chorus) Oh, days like these When you’re on your knees And begging please On days like these (Bridge) It’s not easy to see Floating along on a breeze That you were made for days like these Just hold on now my friend ‘Cause days like these are not the end You’ll come around again (Chorus) Oh, days like these When you’re on your knees And begging please On days like Oh, days like these When you’re on your knees And begging please On days like these Days like these Days like these ©2017 Philip Marino

Hero 02:55
I heard it from a man who was fighting to survive Said it’s easier to live a lie than to be alive He said hold on to what you’ve found Live big, make a sound Before they put you in the ground (Chorus) Don’t run away, or be so quick to follow Don’t mistake today for tomorrow You can be your own hero Be your own hero Said, yeah, you can drink yourself right into the dirt But that’s just chasing pain to keep from being hurt Then he told me not to worry That there’s still time for glory If I put it in the story (Chorus) Don’t run away, or be so quick to follow Don’t mistake today for tomorrow You can be your own hero Be your own hero (Bridge) Well, I like dreaming with my eyes open Saying those things left unspoken Maybe it’s okay if hopes get broken (Chorus) Don’t run away, or be so quick to follow And don’t mistake today for tomorrow You can be your own hero Be your own hero I can be my own hero ©2017 Philip Marino

Long Road 03:38
If the sun won't rise again You got to find your way back friend When the sun don’t shine again It’s just your time to repent But it’s a long road back from where you’ve been If the truth won’t come with ease Well, you know you’ll never find peace When the truth has you on your knees Hell, all you can do is beg please It’s a long road of lies you can’t believe Yeah, this long road lies as it needs Oh, this long road This long, long, long road When your time does come at last You better hope it comes fast When time’s had its last laugh You can throw away your plans Yeah, this long road steals all we have This long road takes what it can Oh, this long road This long, long, long road ©2017 Philip Marino

about

‘Days Like These’ is Philip Marino’s 3rd CD, and it was produced in New York’s magical Catskill Mountains by Simone Felice (www.simonefelice.com), the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer of the number 1 worldwide hit album Cleopatra by ‘The Lumineers’. Simone also co-produced the Mercury Prize nominated album The Bride by ‘Bat For Lashes’. Also featured on Marino’s new CD is Simone’s brother, James Felice, a multi-instrumentalist who is a founding member of the world-renowned American folk band ‘The Felice Brothers’ (www.thefelicebrothers.com).

Marino is an American singer-songwriter (alt-country/Americana) living in England, who has been playing shows from London to Norwich for the past 6 years. Influenced at a young age by the likes of John Mellencamp, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan, the music he makes today is a mix of storytelling and soul-searching. In addition to playing live, he's had his songs played on radio stations around the world, including 'BBC Introducing' radio, 'Amazing Radio', and 'Radio Warwickshire'.
